How did you come to write that book?

by Mira and Charles on October 1st, 2007

People often ask us how we come to write our books. Well, here’s the answer for one of our best sellers: Too Good to Leave, Too Bad to Stay: A Step-by-step Guide to Help You Decide Whether to Stay In or Get Out of Your Relationship.

One day a couple came to us who were both psychiatrists. Their relationship was not in great shape. They came right out and said that they didn’t know whether they should keep trying or just pull the plug on the whole thing. It’s not that they wanted us to tell them what to do. But they did want clear solid information about what it would be best for them to do.And that hit us between the eyes. Wow, if that couple with all their knowledge and experience couldn’t figure out what to do, then what about the rest of us?Of course, we’d seen countless couples before in the same situation, but the fact that these guys were both psychiatrists woke us up to just how tough this dilemma was.

We did some research, and we discovered that tens of millions of couples were caught in the same kind of ambivalence. It was a painful state to be in, it damaged relationships that could and should be save, and it kept people trapped in bad relationships.

That was it. That was our sign that we needed to write Too Good to Leave.

That book has gone on to become a national and international bestseller. It has freed a lot of people from unhappy, go-nowhere relationships. Less well known, it has also shown a lot of people that their relationships really are too good to leave.

If you’re in this situation, here are some quick tips. But for the real deal, there’s no substitute for our book. It’s already helped millions. It can help you.
